2020 Ram Promaster Wagon

2020 Ram Promaster Wagon

If you've been looking at the Ram ProMaster cargo van, you've probably already gotten a little confused. What's the difference between the ProMaster Wagon (usually just called the ProMaster) and the ProMaster City? That's a question that trips up a lot of people. Let's clear away the confusion.

The Wagon is more versatile, offering not just passenger and cargo configurations but also a Cutaway Van or Chassis Cab. Unless you're buying the ProMaster for your business, you may not need those last two options but they're there if you need them. The other difference is size: the ProMaster City offers an impressive 132 cubic feet of cargo space but that's nothing compared to the 463 cubes available in the largest ProMaster Wagon. Finally, while you'll get better fuel economy in the ProMaster City, the ProMaster Wagon has a superior 280-horsepower V6 engine delivering 260 pound-feet of torque. To wit, if you want big, burly and versatile, the ProMaster Wagon is for you.

New or Used?

The new model year of the Ram Promaster offers up a new grille. If you've been on the fence about whether to buy a Promaster Wagon based on looks alone, this is good news for you. But even if looks don't factor into it for you, the ProMaster's innovative three-piece fascia is still worth your attention. You see, three panels make up the front grille and ?face' of the ProMaster. These panels are easy to remove, making servicing your fleet of or lone ProMaster much simpler. In the event of damage or accident, the front fascia is almost a snap to repair as well. That's good news for everyone and one of the biggest advantages of buying 2020 versus a used model.

All That Cargo Room

Far and away, the ProMaster's claim to fame is cabin space. That's why you'd buy one. For most owners, that means business. Tucking away a 6-foot ladder or organizing all your tools so everything has a place. You can choose from four different wheelbases, everything from 118 inches with 8 feet of cargo length to a 159-inch wheelbase with 13 feet of length. No matter the length, you get best-in-class cargo width at 75.6 inches. All told, you're looking at up 460 cubic feet of storage space. And with a low loading floor, available dual sliding doors, and rear doors that swing open 260 degrees, loading your ProMaster is a breeze.

We can't answer all burning questions. Is the ProMaster fast? (Not really--but you probably don't want it to be.) Can I get mine customized inside and with my company's logo painted on the sides? (Yes, you can.) How many does the ProMaster sleep? (People on the internet are really asking--and that entirely depends on the upfitting and customization options you choose.) Suffice it to say, the Ram ProMaster is a big cargo van with plenty of room for all your delivery and hauling needs. So if you have a hobby or business that means moving big equipment or a lot of it from here to there, the ProMaster is a good buy. And it starts at just $29,645.
